Recognized as One of America’s Best Hospitals for Patient Safety, Orthopedics, and Mammogram Imaging Practices

Inspira Medical Centers Elmer and Vineland, part of Inspira Health, have been recognized by America’s trusted referral source for the best in health care, the Women’s Choice Awards®. Inspira Medical Center Elmer has earned the 2021 Women’s Choice Award for one of America’s Best Hospitals for both Patient Safety and Orthopedics, and Inspira Medical Center Vineland has earned the 2021 Women’s Choice Awards for one of America’s Best Mammogram Imaging Centers.

“Inspira Medical Centers Elmer and Vineland are proud to receive recognition as one of the best hospitals for orthopedics, patient safety and mammogram imaging centers,” said Elizabeth Sheridan, Chief Operating Officer, Inspira Medical Centers Elmer and Vineland. “Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, our staff continues to go above and beyond to maintain our patients at the forefront of everything we do. We take great pride in the care we provide to our patients and these awards are a testament to our ongoing commitment to our patients and their families within the community.”

Patient Safety

The patient safety award signifies that Inspira Medical Center Elmer is one of the top hospitals in the nation for patient safety in safe surgery practices and lower rates for complications and infections. The methodology used for this recognition is unique in that it evaluates 11 Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS) measures of infections and complications, Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey results along primary research about women’s health care preferences. It is the only award recognizing excellence in patient safety based on robust criteria that consider patient satisfaction and clinical excellence. Inspira Medical Center Elmer is one of 294 award recipients representing the hospitals that have met the highest standard for patient safety in the U.S.

“At Inspira, we are steadfast in our commitment to provide safe, high-quality health care for our community,” said Paul Lambrecht, Vice President of Quality and Patient Safety, Inspira Health. “Inspira Medical Centers Elmer and Vineland being recognized as one of America’s Best Hospitals for Patient Safety, amid a year that has been a challenge for our community, confirms the exceptional care that our staff provides to every patient, every encounter, every day.”

Orthopedics

The orthopedic award signifies that Inspira Medical Center Elmer is one of the top hospitals in the nation offering orthopedic services. The methodology used for this recognition is unique in that it evaluates Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey results along with primary research about women’s health care preferences. Award recipients are also measured on their incidence of surgical complications and infections, including:

  • A wound that splits open after surgery;
  • Accidental cuts and tears;
  • Deaths from serious treatable complications;
  • Rate of complications for knee or hip replacement patients;
  • Catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI); and
  • Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureu (MRSA) infections

The hospital also must have arthroscopy, joint replacement, and spine surgery orthopedic services available to patients, onsite physical therapy, and an MRI in order to qualify for the award. It is the only award recognizing excellence in orthopedics based on robust criteria that consider patient satisfaction and clinical excellence. Inspira Medical Center Elmer is one of 455 award recipients representing the hospitals that have met the highest standards for orthopedics care in the U.S.

Mammography

According to the American Cancer Society, about 1 in 8 women in the US will develop invasive breast cancer during their lifetime, and it is the second leading cause of cancer death in women. Inspira Medical Center Vineland is one of 1,605 award winners on the list for America’s Best Mammogram Imaging Centers, representing imaging centers that carry the Breast Imaging Center of Excellence (BICOE) seal from the American College of Radiology and are accredited for Mammograms (MAP).

“Being treated with the proper level of care impacts one’s health, well-being, and healing, so it is critical for women to know those hospitals that have demonstrated the highest level of quality care for their patients, with a special focus on the needs and preferences of women,” said Delia Passi, founder, and CEO of the Women’s Choice Award. “We are the only award that recognizes a hospital’s ability to meet women’s distinctive needs and this recognition is critical for women as they makeover 80 percent of health care decisions and need to know they are putting themselves—and their family members—in the safest hands.”
